Zagros Biodiversity Conservation Project aims to establish a novel type of collaborative conservation system in which all stakeholder groups are fully engaged in planning, implementing and monitoring of resource management planning to ensure the protection and sustainability of use and exploitation of all biodiversity, renewable natural resources and ecological processes.
Based on the project’s 2014 work plan, so far three training workshops have been held in the pilot areas for school teachers – who are later expected to train their students – on the importance of biodiversity and its conservation.
The first workshop was held in Isfahan, the second one in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and the third in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari.
These workshops were held for the local teachers by education and awareness raising expert of Zagros project and coordinated by provincial technical experts and NGOs. In these educational programs, a book named “Nature in class, a guidebook for biodiversity education” which is provided by Iranian Cheetah Association, was dispensed to the audiences as course book.
The Zagros project is following to plan another TOT workshop in Fars province in the next educational year (third quarter of 2014).
