Team Melli Captain to present Bioball to his Argentinian counterpart

At a farewell ceremony held for Team Melli prior to their departure to Brazil the BioBall was handed over to the Captain of Iran’s national football team.

At a ceremony held on the occasion of the International Day for Biodiversity at Iran’s Department of Environment (DoE), the unique BioBall was unveiled. Vice-President and head of the DoE, Ms. Masoumeh Ebtekar, and Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP, Mr. B. Murali were present at this ceremony.

The ball is designed to showcase and raise awareness about 32 endangered animal species from the 32 countries participating in World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The segment dedicated to Iran is represented by the unique, yet endangered Asiatic Cheetah.

At a farewell ceremony held for Team Melli prior to their departure to Brazil the BioBall was handed over to the Captain of Iran’s national football team, Javad Nekounam. 

Nekounam has promised to hand over the BioBall to his Argentinian counterpart, Lionel Messi when the two countries race for the World Cup.
