UNDP has been in Iran since 1966 working closely with development stakeholders led by the government including academia and civil society in providing technical assistance and knowledge. UNDP Iran programmes offer solutions to development challenges in Inclusive Growth and Poverty, Environment, Health and Development, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, as well as cross-cutting issues like women's economic empowerment and decentralized planning and development. Our work is outlined in the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2012 – 2016 approved by the UNDP Executive Board. The Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) is derived from the CPD. The current CPAP is very significant since it is the first signed by the Government, signaling strong ownership and a desire to engage UNDP as a trusted development partner. UNDP is present in 177 countries and territories and offer global perspectives with local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations.
UNDP programme outcomes synchronizes with national priorities outlined in 5th National Development Plan. The outcomes promote building Inclusive Growth & Development, Health & Development, Environment & Sustainable Development and Disaster Risk Management.
