The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the designated focal point for UNDP and thus approves and signs the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) with UNDP. The programme has both National implementation (NIM) as well as Direct Implementation (DIM) and implemented by a range of partners including government ministries, government organizations, provincial and district authorities, civil society organizations, NGOs and other UN agencies.
This document was agreed to by the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and the Government of I. R. of Iran, and signed on September 2011 by the two parties.
This document was approved by UNDP Executive Board in January 2012.
The UNDP Iran CPAP is considered a landmark document as it is the first CPAP to be co-signed by a government with UNDP, signaling their very strong sense of ownership and commitment to UN/UNDP programmes in Iran.
